Tunto is a daily planner and focus app for iPhone. It was built to be local-first: your plans, tasks and notes live on your device and can sync through your private iCloud database. They never go to a Tunto server — because we don't run one.
This policy explains what information Tunto ("Tunto", "we", "us", "our") handles, why and the choices you have. By using the app, you agree to this policy.
Everything you do in Tunto is first stored on your iPhone, in the app's private storage. This includes:
This information is not transmitted to us and is not backed up to any server we operate. It is protected by iOS and stays under your control.
Planner tasks and selected settings sync through your private iCloud database by default so the same planner can appear on your Apple devices. The records are handled by Apple under its terms and are not visible to Tunto's developer in Apple's developer portal. You can turn sync off in Tunto's Settings. Turning sync off stops this device from syncing, but does not promise to erase records that were already saved in iCloud.
Tunto offers Sign in with Apple as an optional step. If you choose it, Apple provides the app with a unique identifier for your account and, only if you choose to share them, your name and email address. Tunto stores these values locally on your device to keep the optional profile and to show your name in the app. Skipping sign-in does not limit the app and does not turn iCloud sync off.
Sign in with Apple is operated by Apple. Apple's handling of your Apple Account is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. If you use the "Hide My Email" option, Tunto only ever sees Apple's relay address.
Tunto offers paid access through the App Store (a yearly plan, a monthly plan and a one-time lifetime purchase). All payments are processed by Apple through the App Store and StoreKit. Tunto never sees or stores your payment card, billing address or Apple Account password. The app only checks with Apple whether your purchase entitlement is active; this check happens through Apple's frameworks on the device.
Apple may provide us with aggregate, non-identifying statistics (for example, how many people downloaded or subscribed). We do not receive information from these reports that identifies you personally.
Some features work better with your permission. Each of these is optional, is requested only when you use the feature and can be turned off at any time in iOS Settings.
If you allow it, Tunto reads your device calendar read-only to show your events next to your plan for the day. Events are read live and displayed on screen; they are not copied, stored or transmitted anywhere.
If you use voice input, Tunto uses Apple's Speech Recognition to turn your speech into text. To do this, audio may be processed by Apple, subject to Apple's Privacy Policy. Tunto does not keep audio recordings — only the text you choose to add to your plan is saved, locally, like any other task.
Reminders are scheduled and delivered on your device. Tunto does not use push notifications and has no notification server, so no data is sent anywhere to remind you.
Tunto's planning assistant runs entirely on your device. It does not send your text to any external service, cloud model, or third party. On compatible devices it uses Apple's on-device Foundation Models; elsewhere it uses Tunto's local fallback. What you type to the assistant is handled on your iPhone.
Because your content stays on your device and, for synced records, in your private iCloud, it is used only to make the app work for you — to show your plan, schedule reminders, sync your planner, keep an optional profile and confirm your purchase. We do not receive your planner content or use it to build profiles or for advertising.
We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it with third parties for their own purposes. The only external systems involved are Apple's services described above (iCloud, optional Sign in with Apple, the App Store and Speech Recognition), each governed by Apple's own terms.
Your planner data lives on your device for as long as the app is installed. Deleting Tunto removes its local data from that device. If iCloud sync has been used, synced records may remain in your private iCloud database and can return when you reinstall Tunto or use another device. You can manage app data from your Apple Account's iCloud storage settings.
Tunto is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because the app stores data locally or in the user's private iCloud and collects no personal data on our servers, it does not build profiles of any user, including children.
Your data is kept in the app's protected storage on your device and, when sync is on, in your private iCloud database. Information handled by Apple (iCloud, optional sign-in, payments and speech) is protected under Apple's security practices. No method of storage is perfectly secure, but keeping data off any server of ours is a core part of how Tunto protects it.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal data (for example under the GDPR or CCPA). You can access and edit Tunto content in the app, remove its local copy by deleting the app and manage synced app data through your iCloud storage settings. Tunto does not send your content to a developer-operated server. Where Apple processes data through iCloud, optional sign-in, purchases, or speech recognition, that processing may occur in locations chosen by Apple and is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Significant changes may also be noted in the app.
